Description
Shot on the streets of Tokyo in 2025, this photographic series captures layered exposures of the same person, moments apart. Each image reveals subtle — and sometimes striking — shifts in expression, posture, and gaze, offering a glimpse into the multiplicity of identity within every individual. Through conceptual photography, this work challenges the assumption that a photograph can fully capture a person’s essence, instead highlighting the fleeting and selective nature of each moment in fine art photography. A split-second impression can suggest confidence, vulnerability, joy, or distance, depending on timing and perspective.
The project invites viewers to reconsider their trust in images as conveyors of character or truth. It reflects the fragmented and fluid nature of identity photography, showing that people are never just one thing. What we see in others is often shaped more by the moment of the gaze than by the person being seen.
